Senior Land Development Engineer/Technologist

Description

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be a Land Development Project Manager using your extensive technical abilities to lead the preparation of servicing and stormwater management related studies through the planning process as well as stormwater management facility designs for land development projects during the draft plan and detailed design processes.  You will provide technical leadership to a team of designers/technicians and provide supervisory duties.  Other responsibilities include:

  • preparation of master and functional servicing studies in support of secondary plans, draft plans and site plans;
  • undertaking detailed studies and modeling associated with stormwater management ponds, creek crossings and natural channel design for all types of land development projects;
  • writing reports and design briefs for submission purposes to agencies;
  • liaising with clients and federal, provincial and municipal agencies to review their needs or address comments with respect to servicing and stormwater management aspects of development projects during draft plan and detailed design stages;
  • ensuring that the projects’ schedule needs are met in a timely and effective manner and taking responsibility for the project budgets;
  • supervising junior staff;
  • business development; and
  • maintaining a state-of-the art industry presence with regard to stormwater management policies and practices.

Your qualifications must include (but are not limited to):

  • preferably are registered as a Professional Engineer or Civil Technologist in the Province of Ontario, or are eligible for registration;
  • must have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in servicing and stormwater management work related to land development engineering;
  • have a thorough understanding of the agency requirements and approval process throughout the GTA during draft plan and detailed design project stages related to servicing and stormwater management design requirements;
  • have a strong working knowledge of various software for the design of SWM pond and channel facilities (e.g. Visual OTTHYMO, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS etc.);
  • have the ability to lead a multidisciplinary team of professionals to complete preliminary servicing and stormwater management studies and designs;
  • have strong working relationships with review agency staff and land development clients;
  • have the ability to work in a team environment playing a supervisory role;
  • must be self-motivated with excellent communication skills; and
  • have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while providing unparalleled service to clients.

Senior Municipal Engineer/Technologist

Description

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be a Project Manager responsible for guiding a small group of design/technical support staff in the development of site plans and subdivision infrastructure designs, generally within the GTA.  The scope of your responsibilities will focus on project management.  You will be able to identify alternative approaches to projects and will provide technical leadership to a team of designers/technicians.   Other responsibilities include:

  • promotion and preparing proposals;
  • liaising with clients and agencies to address their needs/comments and guide a project through the approval process;
  • organizing and developing workload programs, issues lists, and budget management for your team;
  • ensuring that the clients’ needs are met on schedule and in a cost effective manner; and invoicing and other administrative responsibilities related to project management.

Your qualifications must include (but are not limited to):

  • hold a degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Technology
  • a thorough understanding of municipal and land development design;
  • have a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience;
  • must have extensive knowledge with residential subdivisions, master servicing plans, stormwater management plans, site grading and servicing plans;
  • possess strong leadership, time management, and team building skills;
  • must be self-motivated possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and clients is an asset;
  • clear understanding of the development approval process in various GTA municipalities is an asset.

Intermediate Municipal Engineer/Technologist

Description

Reporting to a Project Manager, you will be a project designer with at least 5 years related experience involved with various aspects of land development projects through both the design and construction phases. Your responsibilities will include preparing preliminary and final grading and servicing designs, cost estimates, project schedules, coordinating projects through the approvals process, liasing with contractors, sub-consultants, and clients.

Your qualifications must include (but are not limited to):

  • hold a degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Technology
  • a thorough understanding of municipal and land development design;
  • have a minimum of five (5) years of related experience;
  • must have knowledge with residential subdivisions, master servicing plans, stormwater management plans, site grading and servicing plans;
  • must be self-motivated possessing strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and clients is an asset;
  • clear understanding of the development approval process in various GTA municipalities is an asset.

Contract Administrator/Construction Coordinator

Description

We are looking for qualified candidates for Contract Administrator/Coordinator of varying levels of experience.  As part of a contract administration team, you must be a highly experienced and organized Contract Administrator in the construction industry related to land development.  Specific duties include: cost estimating, tender and contract preparation, contract negotiations, construction inspection, payment certification, advising on cost effective design/construction practices, and performing as a liaison between client, project staff, and contractors.

Your qualifications must include (but are not limited to):

  • preferably possess five (5) years of contract administration and on-site inspection experience.  You must have a minimum of at least one (1) year experience;
  • must have an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with CAD/LDD would be considered an asset;
  • must have excellent change order processing and financial tracking capabilities, and take responsibility for project budgets;
  • possess strong communication skills along with excellent interpersonal abilities, and a willingness to work in a team atmosphere with decision making capabilities;
  • must be willing to travel extensively within the GTA area (and potentially beyond) and must have a valid driver license and reliable vehicle;
  • ability to work with minimal supervision on multiple projects at once is required;
  • must be able to work extended hours as required to accommodate workload and contractors schedules during the construction season.

CAD Technologist/Technician

Description

We are looking for several candidates for CAD Technologist/Technician of varying levels of experience.  As part of a design team reporting to Project Engineers/Managers, you must be a highly experienced and organized CAD Technologist/Technician.  Your responsibilities will include preparing presentation graphics, report figures, and engineering drawings in support of various types of land development projects.

Your qualifications must include (but are not limited to):

  • preferably possess five (5) years experience providing CAD services in a land development engineering environment.  You must have a minimum of at least two (2) years of related CAD experience;
  • must have comprehensive knowledge of AutoCAD Land Desktop 2008/2009;
  • Civil 3D 2010-2014 knowledge is an asset;
  • the presence of strong interpersonal and communication skills is an asset;
  • organizational abilities and a willingness to work in a team atmosphere is a must;
  • must be willing to work with a detailed and flexible approach to work assignments;
  • experience using Microsoft Office, other Windows based applications, and programming capabilities would be considered an asset;
  • Municipal design experience is an asset.
