The following list includes some recent SCS Consulting Group news items with respect to this dynamic land development consulting engineering firm.
Our Construction Administration staff make our projects come to life. They maintain high standards on all projects. The team holds monthly in-field-training seminars to review inspection methods, new technologies and safety issues.
The course provided erosion and sediment control training for practicing Environmental Monitors (ESC site inspectors) based on guidance provided in the Greater Golden Horseshoe Area Conservation Authorities Erosion and Sediment Control Guideline for Urban Construction. All of our SCS field staff participated in the environmental training.
The certificate of completion received at the end of this course is anticipated to serve as a prerequisite for future certification required for Environmental Monitors undertaking Erosion and Sediment Control inspections in the jurisdiction of southern Ontario Conservation Authorities.

SCS invited all of their staff and their children, to enjoy a fun and interactive morning, learning about reptiles at Reptila. Both kids and parents enjoyed this event. They even got their photo taken with a snake!
Darts
On a cloudy, rainy day in October, SCS staff enjoyed a fun, but competitive dart throwing night at Col. Mustard’s. Teams were created, a schedule made, and staff faced off throwing darts against their opponents. Some teams decided to score points, others to remove countable numbers. Third place went to Malcolm and Jamie, second place went to Steve and John, and the championship went to Tom Sideris and Sevin Frank.
Sports – Baseball and Soccer
With many home runs, double plays, record number of girls per team, and amazing team effort and spirit, the SCS baseball team managed to finish in last place in the regular season. Then, with all the heart and big hitters, SCS was able to shake things off and pull out all the stops in the playoffs. Unfortunately, the SCS Baseball team lost in the bottom of the last inning of the championship game to end the season in 2nd place. After six years playing in all men’s league, the SCS soccer team decided to go co ed. This move seems very good for the team as the support from the girls of SCS have helped win the only three games since the team was created. Every game night is fun, fast paced, and exciting.
Summer Spectacular
In July, SCS enjoyed a hot and sunny summer day playing a great Italian game of Bocce. Staff dressed in their sharp, blue golf shirts and spent the afternoon socializing, having a few drinks and playing a friendly game of bocce. After several hours, a winner was determined. The winning team consisted of Paul Sarta, Danielle Sheahan, Dan Powell, and Casey Todd.

This was all followed with a relaxing fun-filled party enjoyed by all. SCS got loose and took in a little fitness by playing a very competitive ball hockey game for the Jimmy Cup. After a few sticks in the face, great saves by the teams goalies (Yuri and Paul) a winner was decided.
